Knowledge Management is the process of creating, distributing, storing, externalizing/internalizing our resources (knowledge that comes from summarizing all the related information). Why we need knowledge? Because we need knowledge to survive in this era of information and data so we should manage our knowledge to utilize it so we can improve our performance. How we use knowledge in a Company? We use knowledge to help making our decision. For example: we have a usual problem that occurs occasionally and we already met this problem before and already found a solution, we can use the same solution instead of making a new one but you may use the past solution to make a new solution that can make this problem won’t come again. Other example is when you have knowledge about the situation for the near future you can predict and make right decision based on what will happen in the near future so your company may dominate the market or keep customer satisfied or maybe not losing opportunities. Why we should manage our knowledge? because knowledge is not always be with us in this case, the staff in our company like manager or maybe higher that has understanding capabilities of our company and our market that make him valuable asset for our company has decide to resign or retire. We will lose his skill and his knowledge. In order to make it up we need to recruit a new guy or promote his underlings. But, for the new manager to has a similar skill or maybe even better we need to train him for a couple of weeks or months, that’s another example how we manage our knowledge. Knowledge management allow us to share our knowledge between our staff and colleagues, our business partner, our customer to increase our efficiency, productivity to achieve our targets. Knowledge management help our staff to innovate a new thing so our staff don’t waste a great amount of time producing what already exists.(Rizky)
